ABOUT CORETAN
Coretan is an annual magazine published by students of NUS Malay Studies Society (NUS MSS). The magazine aims to be a platform for undergraduates to express and exchange their thoughts in concrete form and is an alternative medium for undergraduates to showcase their achievements, views and creativity
NUS MSS believes that the intellectual endeavours and capacity of the undergraduate community should be collectively mobilised and represented such that our ideas can be accessed and utilised by the community. Hence, the Coretan publication was produced as a product of our intellectual exchanges and discussions.
The publication aims to create awareness and sensitivity amongst undergraduates towards socio-political issues that plagues the society at large and to provide an alternative platform for undergraduates to hone their writing skills. Through Coretan, we also hope to spark intellectual engagement and discourse on campus.
Coretan features general information about Malay Studies Society and the events that have been organised by MSS in the past academic year, as well as activities by other Malay clubs and societies in NUS, such as the NUS Muslim Society (NUSMS) and the NUS Malay Language Society (PBMUKS). The articles in Coretan comprise of a diverse range from personal stories to essays and articles written by undergraduates/professors about current issues. Dedication to intellectual endeavours also means an appreciation of the Arts, and so we also feature creative works submitted by readers, such as photographs, drawings, poetry, reflections.
